We are excited to meet and get to know Pastor Sam. He has lived an interesting life and will be finding ways to utilize his talents in his ministry at our churches. Prior to becoming a pastor, Sam earned a doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering. He studied, taught, and worked in companies and universities as a Professor and Head Researcher. He then decided to study Theology in order to find the answers of what seems to be beyond human knowledge of natural science, mostly "Why" questions.

Pastor Choi graduated from Drew Theological School in 2010, and was ordained in 2014. While studying Theology, he wrote, translated, and published several books about Computer, Advanced Technologies, and Science...mostly for children and young adults. Prior to his appointment to the Changewater and Round Valley United Methodist Churches, he served the Mendham UMC and Morristown Korean UMC as a pastor of a two-point charge for 8 years and 10 years, respectively. He also served the Skylands District as a circuit elder for the past 4 years.

Through his local church ministry, he has experienced the transforming power of the Holy Spirit, participating in God's plan to bring about God's reign here on earth through the church, the Body of Christ. He likes to find ways in which the Gospel is delivered creatively and effectively to various walks of life. He and his wife, Kathy, have two sons, Kevin and Hyunmin.
